Members from St Mary's and St James' Churches work together with members from Chinley Independent Chapel and Brierley Green Church as well as others from other churches and fellowships who live in the area. We try to support one another and provide complimentary services to our community rather than duplicate effort. Activities that we undertake together include joint services at Easter (Good Friday Service on the top of Eccles Pike is a highlight) and Christmas (please, please join us for the Christmas Tree lights switch-on).
Chinley Independent Chapel organise a monthly Messy Church on the 1st Sunday of the month that many families from St Mary's and St James' also attend. And Brierley Green Congregational Church organise a fantastic annual puppet show. Please see their websites / social media feeds for more information.

Below are details of some of the other joint initiatives that we are involved with.
Started as part of a lock-down initiative to provide connection and a sense of hope and light in the darkness, this group, which is based on the social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, coordinates community activities that have included 'Pumpkins of Hope', a photography competition, easter and lent activities, a 'Loving our Community' event and the now annual Community Advent Windows.
TnT (standing for Tea and Toast) is a drop-in group for high school age children in Chinley on a Friday afternoon after school - 3:30-4:30pm. It meets in the Parish Room (next to Jackson's Carpets on Lower Lane) just where the Chapel High School Bus stops. They serve Tea and Toast (and Hot Chocolate and Waffles 😉) and play card games / chat. It is also a safe space for kids to talk to an adult if they want to and all the leaders have undertaken the relevant safeguarding training.
This team offers primary school children with an opportunity to hear Bible stories in an dramatic and interactive format. They go into both Chinley and Buxworth primary schools and present school assemblies. These are incredibly well received by both the children and the teachers and the team are often recognised and greeted enthusiastically when they are out and about in the villages!
